ABOUT THE ARTISTBorn in London in 1964, I moved to Sussex at the age of 16 and received my first paid commission in the same year! Since then I have painted hundreds of animal portraits. I trained in Graphic Design in Hastings and left with a college Diploma and the firm conviction that I did NOT want to work in advertising! My first solo exhibition was in 2000 and I have since had works in numerous group exhibitions and held Open Studios. I tutor adults and children in various styles and media and run my own classes and courses in addition to local adult education and children's University classes. I am a self-employed artist and accept commissions, illustrative work, run workshops and corporate activities, classes, courses, give demonstrations, exhibit work and am basically an Artist for Hire. For my latest exhibition and art class information, please click on the link below. I am also happy to arrange private viewings at the studio by prior appointment.
Illustrative PortfolioThis portfolio includes mainly animal portraits painted in a variety of media. Most of these are commissioned works and are therefore not for sale, but a few are gallery works. I will consider any commission and can work from life or from reference photographs. Media used include watercolour, pencil, chalk pastel and acrylic paint. Please click on the Commission link to see prices and how to order a picture.
Figurative PortfolioThese are my gallery works - pictures I have created for display and sale, rather than commissioned works. I am one of the many artists influenced by the cubist works of Picasso and Braque. I also admire the works of Franz Marc and Umberto Boccioni - these all show a love of colour and movement, with both subject and background combined to create one overall image. In my works, I try to blur or fracture the edges or barriers we perceive in life. Waterfalls, trees, seas and the human figure are my current passions.
